Birds Seen in Hattori Ryokuchi Koen with Japan Wild Bird Society on December 9 , 2017

9:00 AM until about 12:00 Noon

Partly sunny after a cold, rainy night. About 10 degrees Centigrade.

We saw 40 species of birds:

  1. My goodness--you are a birding expert! Henry has a bird app on his phone, and when we go on hikes, he is always trying to identify the ones we see. I've never heard of most of these!

    It's not surprising you haven't heard of most of these birds listed here because Old World ( Eurasian/ African) birds roughly form a group that is separate from the group of of New World birds.

    I started watching birds during the spring migration of New World Warblers ( "the butterflies of the bird world" up along the Mississippi River in 1981. It was unforgettable, and life- transforming, for me....

    I'm glad you have a friend who might share this hobby with you.
